Our local communities mean the world to us at Pens.com, and we’re so thankful to have the opportunity to give back. To date, we’ve donated over 60,000 face masks and other products globally to organizations in the locations where we have facilities, including San Diego, California, Shelbyville, Tennessee, Montego Bay, Jamaica, Dundalk, Ireland, and Tijuana, Mexico.

The focus of our San Diego donations so far have been on pens, as many organizations need them for both patients and employees filling out paperwork. In recent weeks, the team donated pens to San Diego VA (Veterans Affairs) Hospital, the San Diego Fire Department, and Sharp Memorial Hospital.
Our donation of 1,000 pens to Sharp Memorial Hospital was especially meaningful, as our very own Vice President of Digital Marketing, Dana Sobtka, was treated at Sharp Hospital. You can read more about the story here.

In Tennessee, we donated masks to two Shelbyville community organizations, the South Central Human Resource Agency and the C.R.O.S.S Shelter Project.
Senior HR Manager Tammy Parker delivered 2,000 face masks to the South Central Human Resource Agency where they were received by SCHRA Meals Site Director April Wilson and Program Director/Deputy Executive Director Sara Brown who told us the masks would help them to continue safely serving the seniors in Shelbyville through their Senior Nutrition Program. The goal of the SCHRA Senior Nutrition program is to provide persons aged 60+ a hot, nutritious lunch in a group setting or delivered to their homes. They strive to improve the quality of life for the elderly by providing personal contact and socialization for the seniors in the Shelbyville community and serve counties Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Giles, Hickman, Lawrence, Lewis, Lincoln, Marshall, Maury, Moore, Perry, and Wayne.

Tammy also delivered over 1,000 masks to C.R.O.S.S, a shelter for homeless people in Shelbyville, where C.R.O.S.S. managing director Brenda Knight accepted the donation.

After beginning a partnership in April with the Irish Red Cross, the donations from Pens.com now total 15,000 face masks and hundreds of antimicrobial pens.

In addition to face masks, Pens.com has also donated pens to the HSE COVID-19 testing center in Dundalk, and we plan to continue donating face masks, pens, PPE, and other products over the coming months to community organizations, charities, and healthcare institutions.

Pens.com donated 2,500 face masks each to the two main infirmaries in the Montego Bay area, St. James Infirmary and Trelawny Infirmary. HR Manager Susan Cameron delivered the face masks to St James Infirmary where they were received by Matron Jacqueline Wilson.
Of the donation Jacqueline Wilson said,
“This donation will go a far way to help us care for our residents. People have to be safe in our current environment and this donation of 2,500 masks will definitely take us far in preventing the spread of COVID-19 at our facility… On behalf of the St. James Municipal Corporation, St. James Infirmary residents, and employees, I want to send a big Thank You to the Pens.com team.”

Susan also delivered face masks to Trelawny Infirmary where they were received by Matron Tracey-Ann McGishan, who also thanked the Pens.com team and said the masks would “play a vital role in keeping the Trelawny Infirmary family safe.”
Jose Mondragon, Nursing Home El Refugio Director General & Andres Cuevas, Pluma Nacional Lead Security Guard
In April, the team completed Pluma Nacional’s first donation of 1,000 face masks to Nursing Home El Refugio where they were accepted by Director General Jose Mondragon. Pens.com plans to donate more face masks to community organizations and charities in Tijuana and also plans to donate PPE equipment to hospitals and healthcare facilities in this region.
